Canine hereditary cancer consortium is created by translational genomics research institute and Van Andel research institute. Canine hereditary cancer consortium has been created to study the naturally occurring cancers in dogs. The study will further see why both pets and people get sick and find a quick way to treat. Some of the rare disease is seen to occur both in dogs and humans hence the researchers have designed the program.

A study will be done to see the DNA of canines and discover the reasons. A quick discovery will be made by studying the DNA canines and know the genomic cause behind. The findings will help to discover the new and easier way to treat dogs and people. The director of Canine Health and Performance is Mark Neff. Saliva, blood and tumor samples are being tested from many breeds of dogs which are voluntarily donated.

The privately owned dog’s samples will help to know the canine cancers and the reasons. By studying the canine cancers researchers will come to know the causes of human cancers and transfer the details of this to therapeutics. The therapeutics knowledge will be useful to both the veterinarians and clinical oncologists. The study aims to help both humans and dogs and not to harm any of them. Many dogs are dying due to cancer and neurological disorders which could be related to people too.
