The US FED was confident of keeping the interest rates low for a long time to come, but their plans have been shattered by the sudden unexpected interest rate hike by the Australian central banker yesterday.
The US cannot afford to keep interest rates low when others are hiking it, because that would result in more money flowing out of US into those lucrative markets. But hiking the rate in US also would mean delay or reversal of the green shoots for the economic recovery. We need to see how the US FED tackles the problem. And if you go by history, it is more likely that the US FED would be reactive given the huge budget deficit.
