The US administration does not want to take any chance on the Afghanistan policy issue. The US security head for the Region had indicated last month that more US troops need to be sent to the region, if US wants to avoid defeat at the hands of the terrorists.
Obama administration is most likely to decide on the issue only after clarity emerges few weeks down the line, on who is going to lead the troubled country. Re-election has been called for in Afghanistan due to election rigging complaints.
