There are over 200000 Tamils stranded over the northern parts of Sri Lanka, which was torn to pieces in the last one year, when the government forces shelled the region , in their fight against the then dreaded LTTE.
Now, even after two months since the elimination of the LTTE, the Sri Lankan government is not allowing global relief agencies to provide relief and rehabilitation help to the Tamils in the region.
The official line taken by the Sri Lankan government, is that, the entire region has been mined by the LTTE which needs to be first removed , and that is a time consuming activity. So Sri Lankan government wants relief measures to wait till then.
