One of the ancient civilizations is the Aztec civilization. The Aztecs had a drink made of a bean called CHOCO. In their language, water was called as ATL. The bean was put into the water and produced a bitter tasting liquid.

The spanish people went to Mexico and tasted the drink. They mispronounced the CHOCO-ATL as CHOCOLATO.

This was still a bitter drink. It came to Europe. The Europeans added sugar to it. And, mispronounced again in english as CHOCOLATE.

That is how we got our Chocolates!
