Missing the Forest for the Trees

There are a number of people who are details oriented. It is good to be driven towards details. They can look and inspect everything and ensure that all the t’s are crossed and all the i’s are dotted. But, more often than not, they also don’t have an overall perspective. They can see the individual trees very well but they cannot seem to be able to appreciate the wide forest standing right in front of them.

It is difficult for such a person to raise to the top management levels. At the top of any company, people need to have a vision and a wider perspective along with detail orientation. A very difficult combination of values to come by.
