English has borrowed from many languages.

There is one language called Tamil. This is one of the many languages in India. There is a state called Tamilnadu where Tamil is the official language. English has borrowed a few words from Tamil also.

Let us see a few words here:

Mango : The tamil word is ‘Mangai’. I am not very sure whether Mango is absolutely from Tamil only but my friends from over there in TamilNadu swear that it is indeed so.

Idly : It is a famous food in the south, especially in Tamilnadu. It has faithfully gone into english also as ‘idly’ only. it is nothing but steamed batter, soft to eat and digests fast.
