When I first came across this word, I thought it would be something to do with ‘Abacus’ which is a play thing or which is a playful way of doing maths and is actually used to teach maths to kids. And which was used by chinese for a long time and so on.

However, Abaculus does not have anything to do with Abacus. Even though it derives from the same root word in Latin – which means a ‘square board’.

So, what does ‘abaculus’ mean? It means “a small tile of glass, marble, or other substance, of various colors, used in making ornamental patterns in mosaic pavements” . So, have you used any abculus arrangements in your home recently?!!
