I still remember when I first decided to remodel my kitchen. We had a pretty old house. It is around 20 years old. There is no way I can buy another house. Not now. Not even in next couple of years, given the shaky economy and the shakier job that I have currently. Now, the kitchen needed some remodeling and we have been postponing and postponing it for years now. Finally, I thought enough is enough and decided to remodel. It was supposed to my addniversary gift to my wife.
Now, I am told that some 25 million houses in the US are being remodeled at any given point in time. And that the age of average home in US is about 33 years. Mine is certainly far younger.
We were wondering as to how to go about it. We called a Houston Remodeling contractor. There are a number of them. We called in a few and briefed them on what exactly we had in mind. Then we asked for estimates from them. Both in terms of time and cost. Post that we selected a few and asked for references from them. Called up those customers and talked to them to find who all had really had a positive experience with which contractors. Then we checked their permits and licenses. Then again checked their insurance and worker related insurances. Satisfied on all accounts, we chose one party. We gave the contract to that party.
We are very happy we took such clear step by step process to choose our contractors. The work is over. And it is well done. Our new kitchen is ready. You are most welcome for dinner tonight!
