Today, the biggest democracy in the world is getting into its public elections. An estimated $2 Billion is going to be spent on the elections in India. As a self proclaimed rising super power, the elections hold great importance to India and the world as such. There are any number of parties in India. Unlike the US electoral system where only two main parties fight it out, in India, there are a few national parties and any number of regional parties which stake a claim to power. The power balance could swing either way. There are parties which are trying to rouse religious fervour such as the BJP. There is the communist party. And there is the Congress party which is currently ruling in an aliance.
The results of the election could hold the key to the future of the world itself.
I will be posting a few articles on India in the next couple of days. Let us explore what India is and what it can offer to the world at large.
