Do you have a mentor at your work place? Have you mentored anyone?
Mentoring is gaining in importance.
In workplaces employees are looking for guidance and that guidance is not available easily. Either some guidance is available from one’s peers or from one’s boss but those are within the context of working relationships where free discussion may not be possible.
Mentors are typically senior people and typically one who is respected by all. For their seniority, for their experience and also for their human relationship skills.
These people take the young ones on their wings and tutor them on how to behave and how to get things done in the organisation. It has become an important role so much so that a number of CEOs past their retirement age, take up this role in a number of organisations.
