Marriage as an institution seems to be on the wane. As more and more people believe that promiscuity is fine, as more and more people believe that living in is ok as long as yo don’t get into a children rearing relationship, as more and more people get divorced, the value of marriage as an institution seems to be coming down.
What does marriage do? It binds in two people. It tells them that there is a formal relationship now and the two people are expected to give and take in that relationship. It also tells them that in joy and sorrow they must partner each other. It also ensures that they take their time in understanding each other.
In an era where things happen too fast, does marriage have the same role as it did being the bedrock of family values a few decades back? We need to reflect and conclude on this.
