As the general elections are going on india, we are putting together here a pen picture of what india is and what all has changed in that country. India got its independence in 1947. It was predominanlty an agrarian country. Even now, 70% of its people are engaged in agriculture. So, the economy is very much depended on the rainfall. If rainfall is not good one year, that year india suffers. Even now, after all these years of independence, the growth in india has not been broad based. It is still extremely narrow based. Even now there are villages which have not seen any electricity. There are towns in india which suffer black outs. But that is the india which has also produced the Nano, the technological wonder.
