How many words are there in English language?

Now, the most honestest answer to the question is that I really don’t know. I have just used a word “honestest” which, honestly, I don’t think there is in English currently. If I get lucky, the word might get added into the dictioneries and I might get a reputation as the father of that word.

Let us come back to the original question. How many words are there in English language?

As per the oxford disctionery, there 500000 words are there.

However, as per an organization called Global Language Monitor, there are more than 900,000 words in the English language, and growing every day.
