The HIV/ Aids infection rate inthe US capital seems to be worse than some African nations. 3% of over-12 years are infected and the most hit sections are black men and those aged between 40 and 49. This rate puts Washington DC on a par with Uganda, which is in Africa.

Even this 3% number as per the UN report is certain to be an underestimate since many of the capitol’s residents don’t even know that they have been infected.

The main way by which the epidemic spreads is 1) by men having sex with men, 2) heterosexual sex and 3) Infection thorugh drug use.

Is the city ready to tackle the infection? Do we want to accept that the US capitol is equal to Uganda?
