China is the largest foreign investor for US with over one trillion dollars worth of investments in US treasuries. And the downturn in US in the last one year has indeed raised concerns in China. Now the US government has assured China that all its one trillion investments are totally safe in US and it can be rest assured of its safety in the future as well. It needs to be noted that in the coming months, investments by China into US might come down drastically, because it is planning to invest billions into its local economy to stimulate demand. This can spell trouble for US.
