The new Barak Obama administration has swung into action and it has started its talks with Russia on nuclear disarmament deals. The Start2 treaty ending shortly, has already brought down the nuclear warhead strength to 3500 numbers. Now the new Start3 treaty, expected to be signed before the end of 2009, could look at a more aggressive cut in the nuclear warheads across US, Europe and Russian countries. With Nuclear capabilities of other rouge countries like Iran and North Korea, increasing , it needs to be seen whether any decrease in the nuclear war piles in other countries would help or not.
