The over six years horrifying stay of the UK troops in IRAQ is coming to an end. The UK’s commander in the South of the country handed over the authority to a US general yesterday. With this the formal withdrawal of the 4000 strong UK troops has started.
Except for around 400 troops which could stay back in IRAQ for administrative support and training activities, the total UK troop withdrawal is expected to be completed in another two months time.
The UK troop withdrawal is expected to help the UK government to retrieve some political mileage over the coming months, say political experts.
