France is getting ready for another nationwide strike. All the workers are asking the Government to do a lot more to protect jobs and wages. Both public sector and private sector workers are going to join the protest. Even essential services like schools, hospitals and transport might also get hit in the process.

Though the leaders like the president Nicolas Sarkozy say that they quite understand the worries of the people, they also say that there is not much the government can do to help individuals in their financial crisis. 75% of French population seem to be supporting the strike. They claim that the 2.4bn euros ($3.2bn; £2.3bn) offered by the government earlier this year is not enough. This strike comes at a time when the unemployment is likely to shoot up to 10% in the next 12 months with a further 350,000 lay offs expected by the end of this year. Unions are calling on the president to scrap his plans to cut public-sector jobs and to reverse tax cuts.
