A part of Situ Ginung lake dam in South Tangerang, West Java of Indonesia, gave away on early Friday morning at around 2.00 a.m. (1900 GMT on Thursday). In the dam burst, a number of local residents were washed away along with about 230 houses being washed away.
The Death toll of the dam burst accident in Ciputat, South Tangerang on the outskirts of Jakarta, on Friday’s early morning has reached 58, the Jakarta Post website quoted a police official as saying.
The Cirendeu police spokesperson S. Sutisna said that 21 bodies were temporarily placed at a police post, while 33 other bodies were placed at the Muhammadiyah University, and four had not been identified.
He added that 22 citizens of the district were still missing. But according to Indonesia’s leading website Detik.com, the number of missing were 78 by Friday evening.
