A study involving 900,000 people says that weighing too much may take out as much as 10 years of one’s life. In other words, if you are slim, you effectively end up adding 10 years to our life. People who are obese also run the risk of heart disease, stroke and so on.
In terms of what one loses, being extremely obese is almost similar to that of lifelong smoking. Both end up causing heart disease and stroke and both end up lowering one’s longevity. Both can trigger diabetes.
We have a non smoking movement. May be, we need a movement against obesity as well and an awareness campaign on what all causes obesity.
